Week 85: Begin Anew
Mar. 21st, 2011 11:10 amI know all about beginning anew. After Miraz was gone and I was named King of Narnia, taking my place was a new start for everyone. Not just for the Telmarine people, but for everyone in Narnia. It was also one of the hardest days I faced. I had grown so accustomed to seeing the Pevensies, all of them, each day as the journey toward freeing Narnia passed. And then I stood as they said good-bye, knowing I would never see Peter or Susan again. But I had to wonder if I would ever see Edmund... or Lucy... again. Centuries had passed between the time they had ruled Narnia themselves and the second time they were returned to Narnia. What if it was that many again? I would be gone when they returned.
I got lucky. Lucy and Edmund returned just three years later for me. I didn't know it was them when we dove into the water to rescue three figures in the ocean. I didn't know it was her that my arms came around until she spoke my name. And I felt another beginning start then.
If only I had known, then, just how shortlived it would be. Because beginning anew is sometimes the hardest thing to face, especially when you realize that you are doing so when part of your heart is missing.
